Whewwwww!

I'M EMPLOYED!! My stint of unemployment was, thankfully, short lived.

I'm still at the high school, but with the polar opposite group of kids. In my old job I was working with the college bound students. Several of whom planned to graduate high school with their Associate Degrees. My new job is largely clerical work for the special ed department.

My computer skills will be pushed to the edge of my comfort zone, and beyond ... as will my blood pressure. In the two years I've been at the HS there has only been one student who has really driven me crazy. He'll be one of mine this year, and all the others will be a lot like him. I'm going to have to learn to "take a breath" like I always tell my students when they get stressed. I may also have to leave off the Pepsi and keep an ativan in my pocket. GAH! What have I gotten myself into?!?

Embrace Change...breathe.....

Live Frogs in the Morning

They say if you eat a live frog first thing in the morning nothing worse will happen all day. Well, I did it. *Glulp!* My live frog was a meeting with the principal this morning. I've been Downsized. That is not to say I've lost weight. It means my job has been nixed.
SUCK - I loved that job!

So I've applied for about 15 jobs with the school district today.

Pepsi, Ativan and a nap - the cure for what ails you. Had the ativan before the meeting (I had a feeling there would be live frogs there), had the Pepsi while I cleared out my classroom (had to wash down the frog AND the school doesn't have Vodka and Valium in the vending machine), all there is left is the nap...G'NIGHT...wake me up when my job grows back.

Maybe a booster on the ativan....

A Wonderous Thunderous Birthday 8/4

I'm quite overdue posting about my birthday. But I want to thanks all my dear family and friends who make my life worth getting older.

The morning started with an AMAZING thunderstorm at 5:am. The weather service reported 143 thunder strikes in Utah County within about 30 minutes. It was the most thunderous storm I ever recall. Everyone we talked to, whether they lived in the north or south parts of the county, said the lightening was right on top of them. I didn't hear of any injury or property damage. So that is a good thing too.

The next day Bryan and I went to SLC to redeem a free night hotel he'd won earlier in the spring. It was a pleasant time. We didn't do anything spectacular, we did swim, we were the only ones in the pool so that was nice. It was good just to take a day off of life and obligations.
